Mushroom Creek

* now with breakdown

As a big fan of nature and macro-photography, I wanted to create something small and intimate for an effects shot.  The creek is a Houdini FLIP simulation, and the crown splash on the mushrooms was done as a separate art directed particle sim. The mushrooms were constructed with a procedural tool I made in Houdini, then taken into ZBrush for a detailed pass, and textured in Substance Painter.

Burning Windmill

The Burning Windmill is a piece inspired by artist Jocelin Carmes' artwork. I wanted to challenge myself to emulate the thoughtfulness in their rendering, applying the saturated color schemes rarely found in cg realism. Of course, this was the perfect opportunity to make a good pyro-centric shot. And I learned a lot from including the other elements in the scene, such as the cloth simulation and the snow.

Awakening

This was a matchmoving and integration project with Ada Vychopnova. I had the pleasure of being the actor and getting my face 3D scanned to add horns to in cg. While Ada made the horns I was responsible for the texture and look-dev of them. We divided the shot tracking and integration work.
